Food, Water, Waste, Materials

The city of Charlotte in North Carolina (USA) is working on becoming the first circular economy city in the US. They have set up an “Innovation Barn” where they test and implement different initiatives around waste recycling and food production (e.g. aquaponics, mushrooms). Importantly, they tackle a local problematique in North Carolina, which is wood waste from the lumber industry; they turn in into locally-made furniture for instance.
