Who is behind the Low-tech Lab? #

The Low-tech Lab is: a boat, a tiny, tutorials… But it’s also people who are working every day to explore, document, transmit and raise awareness about low-tech. Who is behind the wiki, the surveys, the community animation or the social networks ? It’s time to reveal them !

The beginnings of Pierre-Alain #

Born in 1990, Pierre-Alain is an engineer from Brittany, passionate about “Do it yourself” and the world of low-tech (simple, accessible and sustainable systems to meet basic needs). After graduating from ICAM in 2012, he joined Corentin de Chatelperron in Bangladesh to develop Gold of Bengal, the first composite sailboat made of natural jute fiber.

The projects of the association led by Pierre-Alain #

Co-founder of the Low-tech Lab, Pierre-Alain has contributed to many of the association’s projects to highlight the potential of low-tech and help build the world of tomorrow:

  • The Nomadic Expedition of the Seas with Corentin de Chatelperron, a catamaran transformed into a workshop/laboratory to identify the most promising low-tech around the globe, experiment them on board and promote useful and sustainable innovation, notably through an ARTE documentary series.
  • The Low-tech Tour France, with Clément Chabot and Camille Duband, to meet inventors and broadcast in tutorials, a panel of low-tech adapted to the French habitat.
  • The “Habitat Low-tech” project, a prototype of an autonomous low-tech house that he is building with Clément Chabot, to live as a guardian for a year and measure the economic, ecological and ergonomic impact of low-tech in a Western context.

At the crossroads of engineering, adventure, and the world of makers, he leads his projects by the desire to apply to himself the change we wish to see in the world.

New project : low-tech place #

Today, Pierre-Alain is embarking on a new project, the construction of a low-tech base in Pléneuf-Val-André (22).

The low-tech Base will be a low-tech demonstrator place to continue experimenting, to host low-tech entrepreneurs and to immerse individuals, students and curious organizations in an inspiring and concrete low-tech atmosphere

Its leitmotiv : to apply to oneself the change we wish to see in the world. #
